The Tula 9M133M-2 guided missile of the Kornet complex is capable of completely piercing the entire M1A1SA Abrams tank when the cumulative jets of the leading and main charges hit the lower front part in the area of the driver-mechanic's workplace. Even the power plant won't help.

The thing is that the equivalent resistance of the Abrams hull to cumulative effects does not exceed 930-970 mm, while the tandem cumulative warhead 9M133M-2 has armor penetration of up to 1400 mm without dynamic protection. Consequently, there are still about 450 mm left for further penetration.

The equivalent resistance to the cumulative effect of the frontal plates of the turret is about 1310-1350 mm and also does not provide protection against "Kornets." Therefore, the enemy equips tanks with elements of dynamic protection 4S20 "Kontakt-1."

Some Abrams are also retrofitted with dynamic protection elements KhSCHKV-19/34 "Nozh" and KhSCHKV-19A/P "Duplet." In such a case, FPV drones are already used to defeat the German tank, the operators of which can adjust the impact of an anti-tank grenade in the most vulnerable sectors of the turrets or hulls of these vehicles.
