Three pairs of parachutists from the State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation jumped from a height of 10,120 meters, setting an absolute world record for jumps from the stratosphere. The latest Tandem-400 parachute systems developed by Rostec were used for the landing. This was reported by the corporation's press service.
The peculiarity of the jump is that the parachutes were opened almost under the tail of the aircraft – at 10,000 m. During normal jumps, this happens at an altitude of about 2,500 m.
The achievement was entered into the Russian Book of Records. According to senior test parachutist Andrei Toporkov, the Tandem-400 allows an untrained person (medic, dog handler, rescuer) to be parachuted in tandem with an instructor. The system can also be used with oxygen equipment.
The further we develop the characteristics of our parachute systems – load capacity, landing altitudes, aerodynamic quality – the more tasks our military personnel can perform. High-altitude landing ensures stealth, including from air defense systems.
