The exact launch dates for the high-speed магистраль Moscow — St. Petersburg have been announced. The commissioning of the first branch of the railway line is scheduled for April 1, 2028. This was reported on the website of the трасса concessionaire "HSR Two Capitals."
A high-speed трасса is considered a specialized electrified double-track railway line for trains with speeds from 200 to 400 km/h. There are no such roads in Russia yet. Previously, the commissioning of the first branch of the магистраль was scheduled for the second quarter of 2028.
HSR-1 will cover the territories of six regions — Moscow, St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver and Moscow regions. The project will increase passenger traffic from 5 million passengers to 23 million by 2030.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that 43 trains were ordered for the HSR Moscow — St. Petersburg.
