Microelectronics manufacturer "Element" will supply components for SSJ 100 and MC-21 aircraft

The contract amounts to more than 2 billion rubles

The "Element" group of companies, specializing in the production of microelectronics, has entered into an agreement with the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) for the supply of microcontrollers, memory chips, power transistors, and other components for the assembly of SSJ 100 and MC-21 aircraft.

The contract, worth over 2 billion rubles, will increase the workload of "Element's" facilities. However, according to experts, due to the small production volume, domestic components may turn out to be more expensive than imported ones.

"Element" noted that at the moment, it is about supplying several types of electronic components from the available line for use in the production of SSJ 100 and MC-21 aircraft.

These components are produced at several of the company's enterprises: at "Micron" in Zelenograd, NIIET, and NZPP "Vostok."

The partnership is designed for the period up to 2030 and may be expanded by increasing purchases of other types of electronics and attracting new UAC suppliers. The total volume of purchases may amount to several billion rubles.

UAC declined to comment on this matter.

"Element" is a leading manufacturer of microelectronics in Russia. The company was founded in 2019 by combining the assets of AFC "Sistema" and "Rostec". The joint venture included 19 organizations specializing in the development, production, and design of microelectronics.

A number of devices developed by the companies have already found application in various areas of Russian life and in production.

As a reminder, it became known earlier that the domestic import-substituted short-haul aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 may be renamed "Yakovlev".
