The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky, commissioned by PJSC "Yakovlev" (part of PJSC "UAC" of the Rostec State Corporation), is conducting tests of the import-independent version of the SJ-100 aircraft. The latest of the test cycles of the localized version of the SSJ-100 New at TsAGI was dedicated to testing the aircraft during takeoff and landing with the domestic PD-8 engine.
These studies, as noted in TsAGI, helped to study the aerodynamic characteristics of the SJ-100 model with PD-8 engines in takeoff and landing modes, including non-stationary characteristics of the flow in the wake of the wing.
Reducing the vortex wake from an airliner will, in the future, reduce the safe distance between aircraft at the airport and thereby increase the capacity of the air harbor. Also, the data we obtained can be used to refine the bank of aerodynamic characteristics of the SJ-100 in landing mode.
SJ-100 is an import-independent version of the short-range jet aircraft type RRJ-95 (SSJ-100) PJSC "Yakovlev" as part of the import substitution program. In particular, domestic radio electronics, the PD-8 engine and a new airframe were developed for the aircraft, which is more suitable for Russian systems and units and easier to maintain.
The first flights, certification of import-substituted systems and the PD-8 propulsion system as part of the aircraft, and the first deliveries of import-independent serial SJ-100s for Aeroflot were expected by the end of 2023. However, the process was slightly delayed and this did not happen. At the beginning of 2024, PJSC "Yakovlev" said that the first production copies of the modified aircraft with the new airframe are not yet ready, but are being actively assembled in the workshops. And before the end of the year, in accordance with the government's instructions, the first new SJ-100s will fly in the sky over Russia.
