Authorities decide to postpone the entry into force of the law on the introduction of a single OSAGO for Russia and Belarus

The actual launch is scheduled for Q1 2025

The new common OSAGO policy for Russia and Belarus will come into effect on January 1, 2025, but the actual launch is scheduled for Q1 after the integration of information systems is completed. Drivers in border regions who frequently cross the border and road carriers will be able to use this policy instead of the usual "Blue Card". However, for one-time trips, it will be more profitable to purchase a "Blue Card", which leaves the possibility of a short stay abroad without оформление long-term insurance.

The cost of extended OSAGO will be formed on the basis of Belarusian tariffs, where auto civil liability is estimated at approximately 4 thousand rubles, and its price will be higher than the usual Russian policy by 10–15%, which will be a justified solution for drivers who regularly travel between countries. There is also a possible increase in interest in this insurance among freight carriers and passenger road carriers.

The international motor insurance system "Blue Card", launched in April 2024, currently only works with Belarus, but negotiations are underway with Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to connect to the system. The advantage of a single OSAGO is that in the event of an accident in Belarus, compensation will occur within the framework of local legislation, after which the Belarusian Bureau of Transport Insurance will issue an invoice to the Russian insurer.
