Процесс идёт: опытный образец новой российской ракеты «Союз-5» уже строится

Factory tests of the rocket are scheduled for mid-2025, and its launch is scheduled for the end of 2025

The Progress Rocket Space Centre (RSC) spoke about the progress of the construction, preparation for testing and launch of the new Russian promising two-stage medium-class Soyuz-5 launch vehicle.

Dmitry Baranov, General Director of Progress RSC, noted in an interview with TASS IA that "the production of prototypes of the Soyuz-5 LV is in full swing, and at the same time, ground-based experimental testing of the components of the product continues to confirm the strength of the standard design of the launch vehicle blocks". However, the decision to prepare mass production of both the components and the rocket itself may be made by the state customer only after successful flight design tests of the launch vehicle at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

The first prototype of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle is in production. To date, all shells of the first and second stage tanks have been manufactured. The RD-171MV first stage engine has already been delivered to Progress RSC, and the RD-0124MS second stage engine is expected to be delivered by the end of this year. At the same time, the LV units are being equipped with control system equipment, engine emergency protection systems, and information and telemetry systems. By mid-2025, we need to ensure the readiness of the launch vehicle for factory testing. In accordance with current international agreements, the first launch of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle is scheduled for the end of 2025.

Earlier, Baranov noted that the Soyuz-5 has interested parties, and these are not only state, but also private customers. In general, "it is planned to promote this rocket on the international market of launch services" and the Russian side is ready to "increase the production of Soyuz-5 in accordance with the plans of commercial customers".
