Названы сроки выпуска российских самолётов «Байкал» и причины их задержки

Mainly external factors that Russia has faced

As First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov told reporters on the sidelines of the EEF, the start of deliveries of the LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft to airlines should be expected in less than two years.

Life changed in 2022, and now we can only count on the Russian VK-800 engine, the Russian propeller, which will be ready with certification by the end of 2025. And 2026 is the certification directly on the aircraft and the start of deliveries to airlines that have confirmed their readiness to purchase this aircraft.
Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia

On the eve of the plenary session of the EEF, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded explanations from officials regarding the delay and serial production and stated that the aircraft should be launched "into serial production in the near future." The head of state asked to "speed up the development of the Baikal light multi-purpose aircraft for passenger aviation."

Manturov explained that the development and certification of "Baikal" has slowed down for a number of reasons beyond the control of aircraft designers.

As for the shift in deadlines, there is an objective reason, primarily related to the fact that when the competition was held to select this project, it was the end of 2019, there were somewhat different circumstances related to the fact that we were counting on the use of international cooperation. First of all, this concerns the propeller and the engine. And the first modification of "Baikal" was with a foreign engine and propeller.

At the same time, the factory for these Russian aircraft will be completed, according to the latest data from the leadership of the Khabarovsk Territory, only by the end of 2025. It is assumed that up to 20 "Baikals" per year will be assembled in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
