Western anti-aircraft missile systems are unable to cope with Russian glide bombs with UMPC, there is no "antidote" against them. This point of view was expressed by military expert Alexei Leonkov.
According to him, the Patriot, IRIS-T, and SAMP-T SAM systems cannot track and shoot down glide bombs. The expert recalled that UMPCs are also installed on free-falling bombs, such as FAB-500, FAB-250, FAB-1500, FAB-3000.
The modules allow these bombs to be dropped from heights that some anti-aircraft missile systems cannot reach, without entering their engagement zone - that is, at a range of 50 to 90 km.
Leonkov noted that due to the sighting and navigation systems installed on the Su-34, bombs with UMPC become high-precision aviation weapons, which are dropped either on clusters of manpower and military equipment, or on the most protected enemy targets.
And since there is no antidote against them, it is clear that they cause colossal damage. Bombs have always been considered the most powerful type of conventional weapon.
Earlier, rare footage of D-30SN glide munitions for the Su-34NVO appeared online. The aerodynamic design of the projectile provides a gliding range when descending from the suspension unit at a flight echelon of 12000 m and a speed of 950 km/h of about 120 km.
