At the A.M. Butlerov Chemical Institute of Kazan Federal University (KFU), in collaboration with Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev, high-strength carbon fibers have been created. This was reported by the university's press service.
For the use of composites, for example, in aviation or astronautics, and in many "earthly" areas, non-combustible materials capable of withstanding high temperatures, over 500 degrees, are required. We solved this difficult task by using inorganic binders.
The technology for producing carbon fibers is based on alumochromophosphate and alumoborophosphate binders reinforced with carbon fabric.
Research has shown that the new material has high rigidity and strength. Carbon fiber products can be used in high-temperature conditions.
Plastic based on organic binders pollutes the environment when disposed of. Our composite materials are environmentally friendly; when decomposed, they turn into components of clay and phosphate fertilizers.
The developers plan to further improve the moisture resistance of the new material.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a new super-strong material was created in Moscow.
