This was announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a strategic session on the national project "Development of Space Activities of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and prospects up to 2036."
According to him, this national project, which was created by Roscosmos together with interested departments, includes eight federal projects. They cover various issues of space exploration. For example, the federal project "Integrated Development of Space Information Technologies" will be responsible for communications, and the federal project "Advanced Space Systems and Services" will be responsible for the development of high-tech areas.
[...] A significant federal project will be "Development of Space Nuclear Energy in Russia." It will focus on the production of equipment for organizing promising missions, including the exploration and development of the Moon.
Earlier in 2024, Roscosmos announced the start of work on a nuclear power plant for the development of the Moon. It will be installed at the International Scientific Lunar Station, which is being jointly created by Russia and China. Moscow and Beijing plan to deliver the nuclear power plant to the surface of the Moon in 2033-2035.
