Cognitive Pilot has developed a navigation system for determining the coordinates of smart trams even in the absence of a GPS signal, the company's press service said.
The system consists of an inertial module for determining the coordinates of the tram. It also has a built-in odometer sensor that records the distance traveled by the vehicle. The device is complemented by a map of the city's rail network, which contains all transport routes, interchanges and depots.
The new development is also equipped with anthropomorphic artificial intelligence. The AI compares the data received with information from maps, and if there are discrepancies, it corrects the coordinates.
The company emphasized that the device will improve traffic safety by 20-25%.
We have not yet found any analogues in the world. The market for such solutions has not yet been formed, but analysts believe that its volume could be about $1-1.5 billion in the next 5-7 years.
Cognitive Pilot has developed a special mechanism for determining errors. It makes it possible to track changes in each tram, the serviceability of its sensors and other components of the structure.
The complex of technical solutions of the system provides data on the position of the tram with an accuracy of up to centimeters, even in the absence of a GPS signal.
Earlier www1.ru reported that smart trams will appear in the Yaroslavl region.
