"Rostelecom" will include artificial intelligence in the Russian OS "Aurora", which is actively used in the public sector, and recently became available to ordinary users. As the Kommersant newspaper learned, this project is already "under development".
Rostelecom (the owner of the OS "Aurora" development company, "Open Mobile Platform") explained to the publication that "the introduction of AI in the OS has become a global trend" and it can positively affect the automation of management processes, optimization of data processing, improvement of user experience and other areas. Where exactly AI will be used was not clearly explained, citing the fact that the project is still under development.
The timing of the introduction of AI has not yet been announced, nor has the approximate cost of its appearance in the operating system. However, in 2023, Roskomnadzor estimated the refinement of the OS "Aurora" at 300 billion rubles. According to estimates by various participants in the digital market, the appearance of AI in "Aurora" may cost up to 3-5 billion rubles. And up to five years, if you create a team of developers from scratch, without the participation of specialists from Yandex, Sber and other companies that already work with AI.
There is also a point that makes you look at this idea skeptically. Experts note that the complexity of technologies and the use of AI will increase the risks of hacking and cybersecurity threats for those enterprises where the OS "Aurora" is used. Including for those that are part of the critical information infrastructure: from healthcare system facilities and the fuel and energy complex to nuclear energy, defense, rocket and space, mining, metallurgical and chemical industries.
