At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin highly appreciated the success of Chinese automakers and welcomed the expansion of their presence in the Russian market. In addition, Putin wants to see more Chinese manufacturers of household appliances in Russia.
We welcome cooperation with our Chinese friends in the field of automobile production.
Note that not everyone in Russia is happy with the presence of Chinese brands in the Russian market. For example, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, complained about automakers from China who are lowering prices. He proposed increasing the recycling fee to protect Russian manufacturers and AvtoVAZ, in particular. By the way, the government readily responded to consider this proposal.
State Duma deputies are also unhappy with the dominance of Chinese automakers in Russia. They propose to ban the use of foreign cars assembled abroad in taxis. Legislators believe that this measure will improve the situation of domestic manufacturers, who mainly assemble cars of Chinese brands in Russia.
