One of the Last Russian "Resurs-P" Satellites Being Prepared for Launch from Baikonur

The launch is scheduled for this Sunday, March 31

The Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the new Resurs-P No. 4 Earth remote sensing satellite has been delivered and installed at the launch site of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

As expected, after installing the rocket in a vertical position, Roscosmos specialists continued to prepare it for launch. The launch from the cosmodrome is scheduled for March 31 at 12:36:45 Moscow time.

Resurs-P is a Russian group of Earth remote sensing satellites. The first of these satellites was launched into orbit back in 2013. Resurs-P satellites explore natural resources, monitor environmental pollution, help in the search for mineral deposits and assess the state of the ice situation, monitor emergencies and help cartographers.

The Resurs-P No. 4 satellite, which is being prepared for launch, is notable for being the penultimate in its series. In 2025, instead of Resurs-P, more advanced versions will begin to be launched into space: Resurs-PM satellites. They have received a number of new options — for example, the ability to detect launches and rocket flights, work as a telescope, and receive higher resolution images.
