The company «Rosatom» showed the first model of an electric vehicle, which is being worked on by former employees of NAMI — the leading scientific organization in the Russian Federation in the field of automotive engineering. The prototype presented at the «AtomExpo» exhibition in Sochi is a micro-truck (electric vehicle category N1).
The futuristic truck does not yet have a cabin — the front windows of the prototype are closed so as not to scare visitors with the absence of seats. There are also no technical details about the «electric car» yet. «Rosatom» does not even talk about the timing of development and production and the amount of investment.
It seems that the state corporation wants to present itself as a potential player in the electric vehicle market. Earlier, the head of «Rosatom», Alexey Likhachev announced plans to create a universal platform for electric vehicles. In 2023, the company bought a plant for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
NAMI is also involved in the development of electrical equipment. The creators of the premium Aurus car are working on an electric motorcycle.
