Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (JSC "IMZ", part of the "Kalashnikov" concern) has produced more than 700,000 Iz-79-9T травматический (Non-Lethal) pistols since 2004, designed for active self-defense.
Iz-79-9T is the first Russian and the most popular травматический (Non-Lethal) pistol. Since it was created by Petr Ivshin, taking into account the constructive similarity with the Makarov combat pistol (PM), it was nicknamed "Makarych." Like the PM, the Iz-79-9T received a frame, slide, and trigger mechanism made of steel, which guarantees its accuracy when shooting and reliability in operation.
The Iz-79-9T травмат (Non-Lethal) shoots:
- gas cartridges
- rubber bullets
- noise cartridges
IMZ emphasized that "Makarych" is protected from firing live ammunition. The device of the barrel channel does not allow a shot to be fired without irreversible changes to the pistol.
