By 2030, Kamaz plans to start producing 60,000 trucks per year - fifty percent more than is currently produced.
This became known from the concern's presentation, which was published by the thematic automotive Telegram channel "Avtopotok". Some of the data from it regarding Kamaz's development - in particular, about plans to increase revenue under RAS to almost a trillion rubles per year and ways to achieve this revenue - became known in December 2023. Some of the automaker's plans were announced at MANF-2023 in October. However, plans to increase truck production in numerical terms were not specified. Also, among the new interesting data, we can highlight the planned increase in Kamaz product exports by half - up to 16%.
At the same time, the question arises of selling trucks in Russia with the growth of their production. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, their sales in Russia for 2023 increased by 74%, amounting to 140.2 thousand units. And it is possible that their sales in 2024 may decrease by 22-29%. Kamaz holds the same opinion - Sergey Kogogin, General Director of Kamaz, told reporters that, according to the company's specialists, the market for heavy trucks in the Russian Federation in 2024 may amount to 100-110 thousand units. But this does not affect the company's plans.
It is worth noting that the concern is already gradually implementing its development strategy until 2030. So, regarding the transition to the development of carbon-free transport - electric buses, hydrogen buses and other transport - it recently concluded a cooperation agreement with AFK Sistema. Two major Russian developers of solutions related to the development of hydrogen transport will be engaged in training personnel for the development of hydrogen and electric transport, as well as the development and production of trucks, warehouse equipment on hydrogen, water buses-electric ships, mobile hydrogen refueling stations, electrolyzers and other products related to eco-transport.
The transition to a fully import-substituted K5 generation truck, which should be this year, is also continuing. In addition to more than two thousand Russian parts, domestic cabins and side members for it have recently been added.
According to "Avtopotok", until 2023, side members made by hot sheet stamping were brought from Daimler Truck AG. Now Kamaz workers produce them themselves - cold sheet stamping using dual-phase steel turned out to be no worse. However, the concern does not assemble the cabin completely by itself - according to channel insiders, another Russian enterprise has taken over the production of 23 parts through outsourcing.
