The shipborne version of the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun system - "Pantsir-ME" - is capable of protecting the Russian Navy fleet from all types of anti-ship missiles. The weapon is manufactured by the High-Precision Systems holding (part of Rostec), the state corporation's press service said.
"Pantsir-ME" can be installed on most ships in the Russian fleet. The ships under construction are initially armed with this type of SAM/gun system.
Rostec explained that its uniqueness lies in the presence of modern radar-optical means of detecting and tracking targets. In addition, the naval "Pantsir" has missile and artillery weapons.
The complex can engage targets at any time of the day and in any weather conditions. It is also capable of engaging low-flying high-precision weapons and the latest types of anti-ship missiles.
Earlier it was reported that the modernized SAM/gun system "Pantsir-S1" can intercept missiles fired from the American-made HIMARS MLRS.
