The Ministry of Digital Development has presented new guidelines for the digital transformation of state corporations and companies with state participation. These recommendations also apply to companies with state participation. In addition to total digitalization and its parameters, the document also specifies the deadlines for switching to domestic software - there is little time.
State corporations and companies with state participation must completely switch to Russian operating systems (OS), office suites, antivirus programs and virtualization systems from January 1, 2025. A year later, from January 1, 2026, they must completely switch to domestic database management systems (DBMS).
Russian large businessmen and start-ups will also have to catch up with the Russian software market by January 1, 2025. However, according to IDECO analysts, for them the transition to domestic software will take at least 6 years. This is due to confidence in Russian products and the fact that they have not yet caught up with international companies in terms of the functionality of solutions.
At the same time, according to this Russian vendor, some customers risk security and use foreign programs without support and updates, making it easier for hackers to access. But a number of companies are testing Russian similar software in parallel with foreign programs of different levels, or at least budgeted for such tests in 2024.
