Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, announced the appearance of a new domestic brand on the Russian aviation market.
It will include at least two relatively new Russian brands of airliners with a growing degree of localization to the maximum: MC-21 and Superjet. He announced this during an interview with TASS news agency.
I will not hide the fact that we are working in this direction [of uniting brands]. I will not definitively name the decision we are approaching, but obviously, we will announce it in the near future.
Prior to this, the idea of creating a unified Russian civil aviation brand had already been raised at the level of UAC and Rostec.
Earlier, Rosaviatsia approved the modernization of the MC-21-300/310 passenger mainline aircraft. Now it can carry 36 more passengers: 211 people instead of 175. The first deliveries of the newly certified aircraft and the first flights with passengers are planned for 2024.
Superjet airliners are also changing in form and content. In particular, the SSJ-100, which may also change its name, is receiving Russian engines, a new airframe and even new algorithms for repairing a number of electronic components and the engine.
