Модернизированный российский самолет МС-21-300/310 допустили к перевозкам пассажиров

The aircraft underwent an emergency evacuation of passengers in a challenging situation and will begin passenger transportation in 2024

Rosaviatsiya has approved the modernization of the MC-21-300/310 passenger airliner. It can now carry 36 more passengers: 211 people instead of 175.

Before the approval of the main change to the type certificate was issued, tests were conducted on the emergency evacuation of passengers and crew members of the aircraft

To check how the emergency rescue equipment of the MC-21 would work, the aircraft was placed in the most severe accident conditions in accordance with the requirements of airworthiness standards.

The aircraft was completely full, all 211 seats were occupied. 3 flight crew members and 5 flight attendants also had to evacuate.

It was dark outside, and some of the aircraft's emergency exits did not work according to the test conditions

The situation was complicated by the selection of passengers: almost half were women, and about a third of the conditional flight participants were over 50 years old.

Plus, there were three children under the age of two without seats in the cabin. The babies were not connected to the tests, though: their role was played by dolls of suitable size.

The actual emergency evacuation time was 81.7 seconds, which is even faster than the airworthiness standards: it is 90 seconds for evacuation. All aircraft systems and its crew successfully coped with the task.

PJSC "Yakovlev" noted with satisfaction that with the receipt of the certificate, they will be able to supply MC-21 aircraft to airlines in all layout options in the future, including the most spacious, MC-21-300/310. The first deliveries of the newly certified aircraft and the first flights with passengers are planned for 2024.

Earlier, following the results of the EEF-2023, the company's management announced the supply of 18 MC-21s for the Aeroflot Group.
