MiG-31 proved impossible to shoot down with existing air defense systems

The MiG-31 interceptor fighter cannot be shot down by existing air defense systems (air defense) when flying at a certain altitude. This was stated by military analyst Alexander Artamonov.

He noted that the MiG-31 fighter is capable of climbing to an altitude of up to 30 kilometers. His comment came against the backdrop of European accusations against Russia in connection with alleged frequent violations of air borders.

The aircraft is armed with a hypersonic aeroballistic missile "Kinzhal", a six-barreled 23 mm caliber cannon, aerial bombs, missiles of various types of "air-to-surface" and "air-to-air" classes.

According to experts, the Kinzhal complex includes a 9M723 single-stage solid-propellant guided missile modernized for air launch of the Iskander-M ground-based operational-tactical complex (OTRK).

The MiG-31 was built according to an aerodynamic design with a three-support retractable landing gear, a trapezoidal wing, a twin-keel vertical tail and two D-30F-6 engines in the tail section of the fuselage.

The length of the aircraft is 22.68 m, the combat radius is 720 km, the crew is two people, the take-off weight is 41 thousand kg, the practical range is 2500 km.

The aircraft is capable of tracking up to ten and hitting six air targets simultaneously. Official data on the number of fighters in service is unknown.
