Oleg Smirnov, Honored Pilot of the USSR and an expert in the field of civil aviation, believes that the Tu-214 could become the first domestic aircraft to be mass-produced to replace Airbus and Boeing if the government takes reasonable steps.
The specialist emphasized that, although the MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 are also in varying degrees of readiness for production, it is the Tu-214 that has the greatest chance of quickly replenishing the Russian serial aircraft fleet. But this requires the political will of the country's leadership.
This aircraft was certified back in the 80s of the last century. And setting up its production is the fastest thing to do. Yes, this is not a modern design aircraft, but we will have to put up with it. What to do? For the first time, we will have to fly until the MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 made of domestic components are ready for mass production.
To do this quickly, a powerful injection of financial resources is required, the expert noted.
Tu-214 is a deeply modernized version of the Tu-204 Soviet design, which allows us to rely on existing design documentation and technological processes. This significantly reduces the time frame and reduces the risks associated with possible errors at the design and testing stage.
The parent company is there, and it is in order, but the factories and plants - subcontractors - are closed. And millions of components are needed for aircraft, and you can't make them on your knee.
The aircraft has sufficient capacity and flight range to serve most popular routes within the country and abroad. It is capable of carrying up to 210 passengers over a distance of up to 5650 kilometers, which makes it a versatile solution for airlines that need to replace their imported fleet.
Two years ago, Prime Minister Mishustin visited the Kazan Aviation Plant named after Tupolev. During the visit, the company's management informed him about the possibility of producing up to 20 Tu-214 aircraft per year. However, since then, not a single such aircraft has been produced.
Tu-214 is a Russian narrow-body passenger aircraft developed by Tupolev OJSC. The first flight took place in 1996.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosaviatsia confirmed high standards of production of parts and components for PD-14.
