The profession of flight engineer in aviation has long remained one of the important figures, without whom no aircraft could take off. Specialists in this field knew all the aircraft systems perfectly and were a full-fledged part of the crew.
Tu-214 Aircraft
Progress did not stand still, and computer technology began to displace flight engineers from the cockpit. To control a modern aircraft, only two pilots are enough, and computer technology performs the work of monitoring and navigating the aircraft's systems.
It seemed that the profession had disappeared in civil aviation, but after the return of the Tu-214 to service at the Kazan Aviation Plant, the specialty became relevant again.
The "Academy 033" aviation training center will begin training flight crews for the Tu-214 aircraft. The academy has classrooms, a modern complex of simulators and laboratories.
Triumphant Return
Currently, the Aviation Training Center is working to expand 25 training programs for private pilots and aviation engineering personnel.
But it is clear that the profession of flight engineer is not returning to the masses, but is becoming relevant only for a certain part of the air fleet. However, the actual return of specialists of this profile to civil aviation has still taken place.
Airline Costs Will Increase
From an economic point of view, this will affect the operators of the Tu-214. In the past, the shift towards computer technology made it possible to reduce company expenses, because it was only necessary to pay salaries to two pilots.
Now the costs will increase by one more crew member. The salary of a flight engineer is comparable to the income of a co-pilot, because he has much more work to do in flight.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the aviation pump for MS-21, SJ-100 and Tu-214 became 17% lighter.
