A missile with a video camera developed in Chelyabinsk has aroused skepticism among Western analysts

Chelyabinsk designer Alexander Rodikov has developed the world's first missile that finds its target using a video camera, while weighing less than the Igla MANPADS missile. The news aroused skepticism among Western military experts, writes the Eurasian Times.

Military analyst Patricia Marins said that Russian technology is far from new. This is the development of ATR (automatic target recognition) technology using complex algorithms. They analyze data collected by sensors, including infrared ones.

Marins recalled that this technology is implemented in the Spice-250 missile, created by the Israeli company Rafael. At the same time, their development has already been tested in combat. Spice-250 hits stationary and moving targets on land and at sea, even without using GPS.

Until the Russian missile passes independent tests and its characteristics are confirmed, it is difficult to say whether Rodikov's design is really a breakthrough in missile technology.
