The Soviet T-34 tank was superior to American vehicles of that time, including the M4 Sherman. This is evidenced by a secret report by Chrysler, made in 1951 commissioned by the CIA.
Sergey Ustyantsev, Candidate of Historical Sciences, scientific editor of Uralvagonzavod, reviewed the document.
In terms of combat characteristics, the T-34-85 was superior to the Sherman. In terms of its scientific and technical level, the tank meets the highest American standards. The materials used are in no way inferior to American ones in terms of quality, and in some cases are better.
The historian added that American specialists drew attention to the rough exterior finish of the Soviet armored vehicle and the high precision of machining of parts where it was necessary.
The T-34 medium tank was produced from 1939 to 1948. Officially, the last modification of the T-34-85 was withdrawn from service with the Russian army in 1993.
