Serial production of the new light aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" is expected only in 2027. Small carriers still use An-2, but customers are not ready to invest in deep modernization of these aircraft without serious state support, notes "Tekhnosfera Rossiya".

One of the reasons for the situation, the authors called the lack of serious state support. However, exactly the same factor will help "Baikal", they are sure.
The LMS-901 is still a new aircraft and, from the point of view of its usefulness for its aviation industry and engine building, it fully deserves the same state support.
The head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov, stated on September 17 that the demand of Russian airlines for "Baikal" aircraft is more than 100 aircraft by 2035.
However, on September 2, Yadrov named a different figure — 50–60 aircraft. How it increased by 50% in 2 weeks is unknown; no information about new contracts has been received.
