The Indian portal IDRW disseminated unreliable information about the progress of the Russian medium-haul passenger aircraft MC-21 into the international market. The publication states that Indian airlines allegedly showed no interest in purchasing the aircraft.

Journalists based their conclusions on an incorrect interpretation of statements by Vadim Badeha, head of the United Aircraft Corporation. The authors of the material quoted him from the Wings India exhibition as saying that local carriers had not yet announced any purchases.

However, the original statement referred exclusively to regional aircraft SJ-100 and Il-114-300, for which OAK is negotiating assembly localization with Indian HAL. Journalists mistakenly applied this thesis to the MC-21.

Earlier, Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Sberbank Executive Board, reported that the potential long-term demand for MC-21 in India is estimated at 100–200 aircraft.
