The problems of the new Russian MC-21 aircraft may affect not only airlines but also passengers. This opinion was expressed in an interview with "Pervy Tekhnichesky" by Yuri Tretyakov, technical director in the aircraft manufacturing industry.

The expert believes that the difficulties of the MC-21 are associated not only with the replacement of systems and structural materials. In his opinion, the project was affected by the traditional problems of developing a new aircraft and the constant revision of requirements in Russia.
The problem is related not only to the technological side of the airframe's structural materials and import substitution of systems as a phenomenon. It also concerns the traditional woes of any newly developed aircraft, which in Russia are exacerbated by the specifics of process development and endless revision of requirements due to not only technical reasons.
According to Tretyakov, the economic model of the aircraft will not change, since there is no feedback from end-users even at the stage of defining the aircraft's appearance.
At the same time, he noted that, judging by recent news about the Tu-214, such aircraft may not be of great interest to airlines even before the launch of a full-fledged series.

The specialist suggested that market participants themselves assess specific changes in transportation indicators.
Regardless of the optimization management methods de facto applied by airlines, this impact will be felt. And it will have to be felt by both operators and passengers (their wallets).
The initial range of the MC-21 at 3800 km is just the starting point for the aircraft's development, not the limit of its capabilities, explained aviation expert Roman Gusarov to "Pervy Tekhnichesky".
One of the reasons for the current flight range of the MC-21-310 is said to be overweight wings. However, aviation expert and blogger SkyExpert refuted this point of view.
It is already known that the Aeroflot group will receive the first batch of MC-21-310. The discussion was about 200 aircraft by 2030.
