Check-in to a hotel using a digital passport via the "Max" messenger is already available in 70 regions of Russia and more than 800 hotels, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reported. The service operates within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality".
To register, a guest simply needs to open the "Digital ID" section in "Max", select the passport or child's birth certificate card, click the "Present" button, and show the QR code to an employee. The employee scans the code, and passport data is automatically loaded into the hotel's system, which eliminates manual entry errors and speeds up check-in. The leaders in the number of connected hotels are Tatarstan, Pskov, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Novgorod regions, as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The service remains voluntary for guests and is only available to adult citizens of Russia. However, from September 1, 2026, all hotels with more than 50 rooms are required to provide the option of check-in via "Max". According to Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Vakhrukov, the technology receives positive feedback from businesses and tourists, and the priority task remains the synchronization of information systems and staff training.
