Korean KGM (formerly SsangYong) has postponed the launch of crossover production in Russia. This was reported to Journal Auto.ru by the brand's representative office. The main reason cited was the unstable market situation. The launch of the KGM Actyon crossover on the Russian market has also been shifted to 2027.

Initially, the company planned to start producing crossovers at the Avtotor plant in the Kaliningrad region back in 2025. However, in October 2025, the deadlines were shifted to the second half of 2026 — now they have moved even further.
The representative office emphasized: KGM is not abandoning its plans. Currently, the main task is to sell the current stock of cars. The company will return to the localization project when market demand stabilizes. Specific dates have not yet been announced.
From January to September, more than 2.5 thousand new KGM cars were sold in Russia. Currently, the Tivoli, Korando, Torres, and Rexton models are officially represented.
A separate line is cooperation with Chery. In August, the Chinese company acquired approximately 10% of KGM shares for about 75 million dollars. The funds will be channeled through the issuance of convertible bonds. The investments open up new opportunities for joint work in foreign markets — both through sales channels and brand development.
