The Russian holding provider RUVDS has opened access to a spacecraft in low Earth orbit for developers as part of the final stage of the RUVDSSat1 satellite platform mission, TASS was told by the company's press service.

Participants in the open testing can work with shooting from the on-board camera and subsequent uploading of images, as well as data from the on-board archive – a repository of technical and popular science materials by Russian authors from the Habr website. RUVDS CEO Nikita Tsaplin noted that the company has worked out two key technological components: it confirmed the possibility of effective cybersecurity on a platform with 512 MB of RAM and debugged the Console Gate protocol, which blurs the line between a satellite and a familiar server.

The experimental TriSAT picosatellite has a triangular cross-section and deploys directly in orbit. The spacecraft was launched at the end of 2025. The first stage was dedicated to testing the cybersecurity system, the second – to debugging the Console Gate protocol, thanks to which working with the satellite for the end user is comparable to remote access to a regular server. Now, at the third stage, specialists have opened access for general use, allowing free interaction with the device.

Opening access completes the RUVDSSat1 lifecycle. After testing, the company will summarize the results and evaluate the experience gained. According to Tsaplin, the main task of RUVDS is to provide new opportunities for talented people. The project demonstrates that even a small satellite with limited resources can serve as a full-fledged platform for developing technologies that bring spacecraft closer to familiar terrestrial servers.
