Russian hosting provider RuVDS is completing its satellite server project and preparing to launch a new satellite platform called RuVDSSat1. The launch is scheduled for the end of July 2025.
We are not ending, but expanding our presence in space: the first device traveled over 400 million km in orbit, from which over 1 million data packets were received. Our satellite platform will replace the device, which will not only act as a server in its usual role, but will also become a platform where developers can test their solutions.
The previous device was launched into orbit in the summer of 2023. It became the first in history to provide website hosting from space. The satellite also allowed for the first information security competitions and became an important element for launching an experimental server in the Arctic.
The new RuVDSSat1 satellite will serve as a testing ground for developing and testing Opensource solutions for small spacecraft. The project is research-oriented, but RuVDS does not rule out the possibility of providing the satellite's computing power on a commercial basis in the future.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian satellite "Ionosphere-M" No. 1 transmitted the first unique scientific data.
