Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Linux (KESL) - Space Edition software is designed to meet the requirements of limited computing resources in Earth orbit. A Raspberry Pi Zero microcomputer is responsible for solving IT problems in RUVDSSat1.

The satellite is expected to remain in orbit for at least a year. RUVDS does not rule out providing its capacity on a commercial basis.

The management of Kaspersky Lab noted that the implementation of the project with RUVDS is important for the development of new technologies. In particular, the experience gained can be used to protect devices with small computing power, such as IoT devices.

The first satellite server of the company RUVDS in TinySat format (comparable in size to CubeSat) was launched into space by the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle from Vostochny in June 2023. It was launched into orbit by the launch container of the StratosSat TK-1 mother spacecraft.
