The Ministry of Transport intends to more than double the number of no-fly zones, Kommersant writes. The document has already been prepared and provides for expanding the list from 374 to 818 zones. The restrictions will be indefinite and will affect all types of aircraft.
The list will include objects of the fuel and energy complex, defense industry, transport infrastructure, and other strategically important facilities. The prohibitions are formed based on proposals from the FSB, Ministry of Defense, Rosgvardiya, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Energy, state corporations, and regions. Exceptions are provided only for military aviation and individual flights of oil companies.
Experts warn of risks of accidental violations, especially for small aviation, and point out that the existing "Kover" mechanism is sufficient for promptly closing the sky. Other specialists believe that the expansion of restrictions is part of a systemic tightening of air traffic rules amid the growing drone threat. Fines for violations reach 100,000 rubles for legal entities, and in case of severe consequences, criminal liability is possible.
