Rosmorrechflot has approved a roadmap for the creation of a multimodal logistics center based on the Cheboksary River Port, the agency's press service reported. The document defines the legal and project framework for the construction of the MLC in Chuvashia, as well as measures to find potential clients and cargo nomenclature.

The port infrastructure development project involves extending the existing quay wall at the Novocheboksarsk berth to 450 linear meters. In addition, a new cargo terminal with a 622 linear meter quay wall and a 38.5-hectare warehouse area, focused on container transportation, will be built. The transshipment complex will combine rail, road, and water transport and will be located at the mouth of the Tsivil River, which flows into the Volga.

Currently, the port has three berths and is engaged in cargo and passenger transportation, extraction of non-metallic materials, and fleet maintenance. During the 2025 navigation season, sand extraction exceeded 2.6 million tons, and the total cargo turnover amounted to over 5.3 million tons. To ensure the transport accessibility of the center, a railway component will be formed, and the transit potential of Novocheboksarsk bypass roads with access to federal highways will be utilized. According to the agency's assessment, the integration of land transport with water transport will increase the efficiency of cargo transportation in the Volga Federal District.
