Nikolay Chikunov, a design engineer at the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau, questioned one of the key technical solutions used in the creation of the prospective Su-75 Checkmate fighter. In his article, which came into the possession of "Pervy Tekhnichesky", the specialist stated that the chosen aerodynamic design could create serious difficulties with the aircraft's maneuverability.
In his opinion, the problem is related to the fact that the aircraft received an unusual layout of control surfaces.
This aircraft has practically nothing to balance itself with, let alone control in the longitudinal channel (or, in other words, in the pitch channel).
Chikunov added that such a scheme has practically no analogues among modern combat aircraft.
According to his assessment, the use of thrust vectoring and an all-moving vertical stabilizer will not be able to fully compensate for the lack of classic aerodynamic control surfaces.
Sergey Bogdan, head of the Sukhoi bureau's flight service, promised that the first flight of the Su-75 would take place in early 2026, but as of early August, there is no news about the project.
