The new DP2D diesel train has received a certificate of conformity and approval for operation on the railways of Russia and EAEU countries. The train is designed for non-electrified sections and can adapt to different passenger flows due to its variable composition.

The development and production of the train were carried out by Transmashholding enterprises – Demikhovsky Machine-building Plant and Kolomensky Zavod.

The testing program included a trial run of about 5000 km. Specialists checked the train's operation in real conditions, including on the St. Petersburg – Sortavala route.

The DP2D is based on the TEP70BS passenger locomotive, manufactured by Kolomensky Zavod, and two to six cars produced by Demikhovsky Machine-building Plant. This scheme allows forming a train for specific routes – from small regional lines to high-demand directions.

The design speed of the diesel train is 120 km/h, and the estimated service life is 32 years. The capacity depends on the configuration and reaches 636 seats. In the minimum configuration, the train is designed for 162 passengers.

One of the features of the DP2D is a unified control system: the driver can control the movement and equipment status both from the locomotive cab and from the head car. Thanks to this, the train is operated by a single locomotive crew without the need for additional maneuvers with the train.

Modern comfort elements are provided for passengers: USB Type A and Type C ports with fast charging, air conditioning, LCD information displays, bicycle racks, and a toilet complex accessible to passengers with disabilities.
