Nizhny Novgorod shipbuilders have formed the wheelhouse on the lead hydrographic pilot vessel of Arc7 ice class "Pavel Mikhalenko" (project HSV05), which is being built at the "Volga" shipyard. This was reported by the shipyard's press service.
The wheelhouse was assembled from four sections using a special technology to ensure geometric accuracy. Workers used overhead cranes to move and install large elements.
The installation of the wheelhouse is one of the most complex and critical stages of vessel formation. This work requires not only powerful equipment but also high engineering precision.
Now the shipbuilders will proceed with painting the hull, installing equipment inside the wheelhouse, and equipping the vessel with engineering systems.
Characteristics of the "Pavel Mikhalenko" vessel:
- Length — 70 m
- Width — 15.4 m
- Side height — 8.2 m
- Cargo hold capacity — 600 m³
- Main power plant — 4 DG x 1540 kW
- Ice class — Arc7
- Dynamic positioning system (maintains the vessel at a given point using propellers and thrusters)
The pilot vessel is being built for FSUE "Hydrographic Enterprise" (part of Rosatom). After commissioning, "Pavel Mikhalenko" will ensure safe navigation along the Northern Sea Route, as well as deliver specialists and cargo to remote Arctic regions.
