The volume of investments in the creation of the Russian medium-haul aircraft MC-21 will exceed 65 billion rubles. The project financing is calculated until 2027 and should ensure the completion of key stages of development and preparation for serial production of the aircraft.
According to materials for the working trip of the President of Russia to the Irkutsk region to the IAZ plant, the total investment in the MC-21 program for the period from 2019 to 2027 will amount to 65.792 billion rubles.
The MC-21 is one of the largest Russian projects in the civil aviation segment. The aircraft is designed to carry from 163 to 211 passengers and belongs to the class of narrow-body medium-haul airliners, intended for operation on the most demanded routes.
During the program's implementation, developers continue to improve the aircraft's design, including replacing foreign components with domestic solutions. One of the key directions remains increasing the technological independence of production and preparing the aircraft for full-fledged operation.
The certification of the MC-21 is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. After that, the Russian airliner will be able to enter the regular passenger transportation market and compete with foreign models of a similar class.
