Rybinsk enterprise "ODK-Saturn" launched serial production of new PD-8 engines for the "Superjet" aircraft. The plant manufactured the first engine kits for power units, Rostec reported.
To increase production, about 100 units of modern machine tools and installations were put into operation, and the necessary cutting and control tools were acquired.
Delivery to the OAK aircraft plant and installation on the wing of the "Superjet" are planned in the near future. The production capacities of the enterprise are ready for a high pace of work and will be built taking into account the needs of our customer.
Nevertheless, for the PD-8 to be approved for installation on serial SJ-100s, it is necessary to confirm the operation of the power unit at extremely high temperatures. Therefore, tests will continue, the Rybinsk publication "Cheryomukha" reported.
Before the release of PD-8, ODK-Saturn engineers underwent a professional retraining program in welding production technologies.
