PD-8 engine has not yet confirmed operation at high temperatures

ODK is also awaiting results of tests on resource indicators

For the new PD-8 engine to be approved for installation on passenger SJ-100 aircraft, confirmation of the power plant's operation at extremely high temperatures is still required. This was reported by the Rybinsk newspaper "Cheryomukha".

In addition, the results of tests on resource indicators are not yet known. This will likely happen in the foreseeable future, the authors of the article noted.

Igor Chistyugin, Deputy General Director of ODK-Saturn, stated that before the PD-8 project, the plant did not have such high competencies.

We are facing a stage of refinement and improvement of the engine to a state of its technical and technological maturity, as is the case with all products of this level of complexity.

Oleg Panteleev, Executive Director of the Aviaport agency, also warned that the issuance of a type certificate for the PD-8 is not the end of the story. Tests of the SJ-100 with this power plant are ongoing, and it is still necessary to overcome "teething problems".
