Yakutia abandoned Chinese Comac C909 aircraft and will wait for "Baikals"

Deliveries of the first aircraft will only happen in two years

Airlines in Yakutia have stopped hoping for the purchase of Chinese Comac C909 liners and decided to wait for deliveries of domestic SJ-100, Tu-214, and LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft. This was reported by the local agency PrimaMedia.

However, the problem lies in the timing. Deliveries of the first domestic aircraft will only occur in 2028.

It is impossible to purchase Chinese-made Comac C909 liners, which fly to Vladivostok in Chengdu Airlines livery, as friendly China itself is experiencing a shortage of these aircraft.

The Head of Yakutia, Aysen Nikolaev, believes that SJ-100 deliveries will begin next year, and Tu-214 deliveries in 2028.

We have signed an agreement for the delivery of six Tu-214 aircraft and five SJ-100 aircraft by 2030. And this is not just a declaration of intent. This is actually a very serious document.

In early May, the Minister of Economy of Yakutia, Pyotr Popov, confirmed that the regional authorities began negotiations with Chinese airlines for the supply of aircraft for regional transportation amid the postponement of Russian aircraft production deadlines.

The publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" explained why this path will not solve the problem of transport accessibility within the region.
