In the coming years, Russia may start producing almost ten new hybrid car models – production has already partially begun, and some projects are in the final stages of preparation. This was announced by Albert Karimov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, on the sidelines of the SPIEF-2026.
According to him, assembly lines for several modern hybrid models have already been launched in the Lipetsk region. He noted that over the next two years, Russian car manufacturers plan to expand their lineup by approximately another ten hybrid vehicles.
The ministry representative emphasized that this reflects the industry's readiness for technological modernization and the transition to more complex engineering solutions. However, he did not specify which companies are participating in the projects, stating that manufacturers would disclose details as they become ready.
In fact, this involves the formation of a new segment of the local automotive industry, where hybrid technologies are becoming an intermediate stage between traditional internal combustion engines and fully electric platforms.
