New measures against cyber fraudsters are being prepared in the State Duma: the number of such crimes has already decreased by 12%

Deputies are considering four bills at once for additional protection of Russians

The State Duma is considering four new bills that should strengthen the protection of people from cybercriminals. This refers to fraudsters who deceive citizens through digital services, calls, messages, and other online channels. State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin stated that deputies plan to reach decisions as quickly as possible.

According to Volodin, four bills aimed at additional protection of citizens from the actions of cybercriminals are currently under consideration by the chamber. He wrote about this in the "Max" messenger.

Volodin also reminded that a year ago, a law with a set of measures against fraudsters already came into force. Among other things, it restricted the ability of banks, government agencies, telecom operators, and marketplaces to inform citizens through foreign messengers.

The Chairman of the State Duma cited data from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to these data, in 2025, the growth of cybercrimes stopped, and their number decreased by 12%.

In addition, according to Volodin, in 2026, the amount of damage caused also decreased by 19%.

He noted that such indicators speak of the effectiveness of the already introduced mechanisms for combating fraud.
