China begins to take shipbuilding repair from Russia in the Far East

Russian shipyards are losing customers and operating at about 50% capacity

Ship repair enterprises in the Far East have faced a growing outflow of orders to China. Denis Zabaluev, managing director of OOO "Ship Repair Complex - Primorsky Zavod", announced the problem.

According to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, 24 ship repair enterprises operate in the Far East. However, a significant portion of orders is gradually shifting to Chinese shipyards.

Over the past two years, five shipping companies have completely moved to China.

According to him, the enterprise's capacity allows it to service up to 40–50 vessels per year, but the actual workload is only about 20–25 vessels. The average annual workload is 50–60%.

As a result, companies will either be forced to switch to related areas – for example, shipbuilding – or risk losing their business.

Shipbuilding analyst Sergey Gebel warned that the industry lacks a working investment model that would combine federal and regional resources. By 2038, 2062 vessels are planned to be built in the country, but contracts have been concluded for only 358.
