The new Russian aircraft engine PD-8 is expected to receive its type certificate in June. This was reported by the publication "Aviatsiya Rossii".

The power plant has passed all certification tests. The evidentiary base required for obtaining the documents is currently being processed.

In March, the head of Rosaviatsiya, Dmitry Yadrov, stated that certification was planned for April 2026, but the deadlines were eventually shifted to the right.

The head of ODK, Alexander Grachev, explained that technologies were created for the PD-8 that did not exist in Russia before. Thanks to this, the specific fuel consumption of the power plant was reduced.

Also, for the first time, the PD-8 implemented a supersonic high-pressure turbine stage with a pressure reduction ratio of 4. Such technologies are only found in Boeing and Airbus level engines.
