PD-8 engine required the creation of non-existent technologies

ODK Head Grachev: such developments did not exist in Russia before

The PD-8 engine was created in the shortest possible time using technologies that had never existed in Russia before. This was announced by Alexander Grachev, head of the United Engine Corporation.

According to him, this fully demonstrates the uniqueness of the Russian aircraft manufacturing industry. At the same time, until 2022, it was believed that all technologies could be purchased from other countries.

We were practically forced to raise a certain layer of technologies. What we never did, we thought we bought and would always buy. And this has been done today in the shortest possible time.
Alexander Grachev, CEO of ODK

Grachev emphasized that the domestic production of aircraft engines has become an important part of ensuring Russia's sovereignty.

That is, if a country does not have its own aviation, and in a country like Russia, it is impossible to even think about it – independence is lost.

Earlier, Rostec announced that the PD-8 engine has passed certification tests and is in the final stage of documentation.
