New satellite photos of a drone port under construction in one of Russia's regions for launching "Geran-5" drones have gone viral online. The footage was shown by the Telegram channel "Voenny Osvedomitel".
It is known that the length of the launcher for the "Geran-5" is 80 m. For comparison, the "younger" "Geran-2" drones were launched directly from the roofs of pickup trucks.
Specialized resources stated that the drone has a warhead weighing about 90 kg and a flight range of up to 1000 km.
The practical ceiling of the "Geran-5" is 6000 m, which makes it unreachable for man-portable air-defense systems.
Military expert Boris Rozhin noted that the "Geran-5" will force a complete rethinking of the modern anti-drone defense system.
